Waking up

"Max...Max..?" the voice whispered from the dark. "MAX WAKE UP!!!"

Max awoke to the sound of his mom screaming for him to get up. Another day in the life of preschool. Max put on his clothes, which his mom set out for him, ate his breakfast, and grabbed his candy. And he walked out the garage door to the car just as his shadow turned away from him and grabbed an orange knife sitting on the counter, sheathing it on his waist, where the actual knife appeared on Max.
