The Nightmare

As I looked down the long hall ahead of me, I wondered if anyone would know how long I've been gone. There is a slight echo with every one of my steps, and they sound like they're pounding in my head. And then, I hear it. At first, it's a whisper, and then it grows... and grows... and grows until my head can't handle it and it sounds like the screaming of dying children. And then I bump into a door, and the screams are sounding from behind there. I open it, and on the other side, there is a very tall shadow, with two, red, beady eyes. I back away slowly, but it grabs me with a long, shadow arm and lifts me up...

I startle in my bed. I'm in my room, everything is normal. I get up and look around. The closet door is open. My heart stops. Out comes the long, shadow arm.
